 RVSM Online-Test

Flight Crew Training

Following Questions are based on the RVSM Online Training. You will demonstrate required minimum knowledge to take part as a crewmember inside the RVSM Airspace. This training program complies with EASA Regulation, EC 965/2012, Annex 5, Part SPA, 14 CFR 91 Appendix G Operations in RVSM Airspace and ICAO doc 7030.

  1. The RVSM airspace is defined as any airspace or route where the aircraft are separated vertically by 1.000ft between:

  2. FL310 - FL 390
    FL 295 - FL 415
    FL 290 - UNLIM
    FL 290 - FL 410

  3. The next higher Level above the RVSM airspace is:
    FL 430
    FL 420
    FL 410
    by ATC instruction

  4. To operate within the RVSM airspace:

  5. each individual aircraft must be certified for RVSM
the flight crews must have received the adequate training
any RVSM equipped aircraft is approved for RVSM operations
answer a. and b. are correct

  6. The minimum equipment for RVSM operations should be:

  7. 1 altitude measurement systems + 1 SSR altitude reporting transponder + 1 altitude alert system + 1 automatic altitude control system
2 independent altitude measurement systems + 1 SSR altitude reporting transponder + 1 altitude alert system + 2 automatic altitude control system
2 independent altitude measurement systems + 1 SSR altitude reporting transponder + 2 altitude alert system + 2 automatic altitude control system
2 independent altitude measurement systems + 1 SSR altitude reporting transponder + 1 altitude alert system + 1 automatic altitude control system

  8. In order to signify that a flight is approved to operate in RVSM Airspace a special letter shall be inserted in field 10 of the ATC Flight Plan. This letter is:

  9. W
    S
    X
    R

  10. The highest FL below RVSM airspace for non approved RVSM aircraft is:

  11. FL 290
    FL 280
    FL 245
    FL 410

  12. Prior to entry and when  operating in the RVSM airspace, the two main altimeter indications on STD setting must be within:

  13. 65 feet
    150 feet
    200 feet
    300 feet

  14. When approaching the first cleared flight level, and/or when changing flight level in RVSM airspace monitor AP guidance not to overshoot or undershoot the assigned flight level by more than:

  15. 65 feet
    150 feet
    200 feet
    300 feet

  16. To avoid TCAS warnings to your aircraft or to other traffic, it is necessary to reduce the vertical speed when within 1.000ft of the cleared FL to a maximum of:

  17. 2.000 ft/min
only the autopilot must have control
    1.500 ft/min
      500 ft/min

  18. The Autopilot is a required aircraft equipment for RVSM airspace operation. Manual flying inside the RVSM airspace is:

  19. approved with Flight Director Guidance only
    approved only for level changes
    approved only for level flight
    not approved

  20. When flying within RVSM airspace, ATC must be informed in case of:

  21. Loss of altimeter system redundancy, or excessive altimeter discrepancy.
Failure of the autopilot or any other equipment affecting the ability to maintain the cleared FL.
    Encountering greater than moderate turbulence.
    All of the above.

  22. If encountering greater than moderate turbulence , the correct RTF phraseology to ATC used by the pilot is:

  23. entering heavy turbulence
    unable RVSM due turbulence
    unable RVSM
    request level change

  24. Within RVSM airspace you notify a deviation of 300 ft or more from the assigned FL. The required actions are:

  25. Inform ATC and return to the cleared FL as soon as possible.
The operator should report within 72 hours to the responsible authority.
    Both of the above.

  26. When informed by the pilot of an RVSM approved aircraft operating in the EUR RVSM airspace that the aircraft’s equipment no longer meets the RVSM requirements, ATC shall consider the aircraft as non-RVSM approved and take action to:

  27. clear you below or above the RVSM airspace
provide 2.000ft vertical separation to other traffic
closely monitor your transponder altitude reporting
answer a. and b. are correct

  28. You are operating inside the RVSM airspace. The co-pilot's main altimeter fails, but the standby and the LH main altimeter are working properly. You aircraft is still RVSM operational:

  29. false
    true

  30. Entry into NAT RVSM airspace, e.g. flights to and from Keflavik, requires:

  31. The approval for lateral navigation (NAT MNPS Approval).
The approval for height keeping performance (RVSM Approval).
    Both approvals.

After sending the test you will receive payment instructions. After we received your payment we will sent you the certificate of RVSM training plus the corrected result of your test. The invoice comes with this documents.

I will pay for: EUR 59,-- for the RVSM qualification only.

I will pay for: EUR 99,-- for RVSM & MNPS qualification.

I have credit: I have paid already EUR 99,-- with my MNPS qualification.
